Primary Mental Health Team Leader 1.0 FTE

Based in Greymouth

The West Coast Primary Health Organisation is offering an exciting opportunity to lead the Brief Intervention Counselling team in contributing to the wellness of the West Coast Community.  This team works collaboratively with general practices, schools, West Coast District Health Board and other community groups, to provide assessment and intervention counselling for people from 12 years of age who are experiencing mild to moderate mental health issues.

We are seeking applicants with strong leadership skills who can motivate and inspire excellence in teams and develop team cohesiveness.  The ability to build constructive partnerships with key stakeholders across our community is essential towards achieving quality care.  A desire to maintain some clinical contact is a requirement of the role.

Selection criteria for this role:

A registered health professional with relevant tertiary qualification (Psychologist, Psychotherapist, Registered Nurse, Mental Health Nurse, Social Worker) or relevant qualification in management
Passionate to contribute to the transformation of mental health & addiction services
Experience in mental health and addictions in the community, NGO sectors
Ability to develop and sustain positive relationships across a range of networks
Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
Excellent written and verbal communication
Knowledge of Te Tiriti of Waitangi principles
Full New Zealand driver licence

Primary Mental Health Practitioner(s) 0.8 FTE – new role

The West Coast Primary Health Organisation is offering an exciting opportunity to join our Brief Intervention Counselling team in contributing to the wellness of the West Coast Community.  This team works collaboratively with general practices, schools, the West Coast District Health Board and other community groups, to provide assessment and intervention counselling for people from 12 years of age who are experiencing mild to moderate mental health issues.  This is a new role that could suit one person or two looking for that work life balance.

We are seeking applicants with an interest (but not limited to) in providing counselling using digital technology such as video and phone consults where appropriate to improve access to services for young people and those living in rural remote areas.

Selection criteria for this role:

A recognised qualification in Psychology, psychotherapy, counselling, or mental health nursing
Relevant professional registration with a current NZ practicing certificate
Experience working clinically with youth (from 12 years), and adults using evidence-based brief intervention strategies e.g. CBT, ACT and FACT
A high level of oral and written communication skills, including the ability to engage effectively with clients, general practice teams and other health professionals.
Excellent written and verbal communication
Full New Zealand driver licence
